FUNGAL WIZARDRY 101!

Hi! I’m Aaron, Chief Fungal Wizard and Founder at Urban Kulture. I love mushrooms! I love talking about them, I love growing them, I love foraging them and most of all I love teaching you all I know about them.

When I read my first book on Mushroom Cultivation, I nearly gave up then and there. I was pretty much broke at the time and the book made mushroom cultivation seem complicated, expensive, and inaccessible to all but the most serious. Luckily, I was already obsessed with mushrooms, and I became determined to find my own way to grow.

This sent me on a journey of discovery to uncover the cheapest, most simple, and fastest techniques that could be applied to the art of mushroom cultivation. In 2012, after 2 years of mad scientist-like experimentation on different mushroom growing food sources, I found a technique that could be used to create a mushroom grow kit in only 5 minutes with no special skills or expensive equipment needed. The 5-minute mushroom kit was born. Not only was this kit cheap, quick, and easy to make, it gave off no odor, took up virtually no space, and was suitable to grow in small spaces like an apartment. Suddenly, mushroom cultivation was accessible to everyone!

After several years of growing with this technique, I became confident enough to start sharing it. In 2016 I started the School of Fungal Wizardry and spent the next 3 years living the #vanlife and driving all over Australia to share my love of mushrooms.
